Free Healthcare

The Health Department, bifurcated into Medical Education & Tertiary Care Health and Primary & Secondary Healthcare Departments, is entrusted with the fundamental responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population. The Health Department delivers primitive, preventive as well as curative healthcare services of primary healthcare level to tertiary healthcare level. Free of cost consultation, diagnostic facilities and medicines are provided to the patients, with particular focus on the poor and marginalized segments of the society. The Health Department also takes free of cost preventive measures including immunization and vaccination for preventable diseases. Besides measures to prevent, treat and control other communicable diseases and epidemics / disasters, these vaccines are provided through Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) for children under 2 years and pregnant ladies. The Health Department is producing its own trained and qualified Human Resource keeping the HR development needs and requirements of healthcare infrastructure in mind. Besides provision of basic health services, the department also focuses on the design and delivery of different healthcare programmes to enhance the quality of life and facilitate the citizens to meet their healthcare needs.
